We are building a dedicated, API-first personalisation platform on top of our cloud platform. Product teams will consume these services to power personalisation, marketing automation and loyalty, supported by a modern data platform and active experimentation.
As we scale the platform, we are also building the patterns and standards for decisioning and ML, so you can help shape how this is done. With more than 280 million yearly transactions, 60 million web sessions per year and 1,4 million weekly unique app users, this is an opportunity to build data-driven experiences at meaningful scale.
WHAT WE’RE BUILDING
A personalisation platform that teams can build on.
We are building a modern personalisation and loyalty platform that connects software engineering, data and customer insight, and turns that into reusable services on top of Coop’s cloud platform. These services are consumed by product and channel teams across app, web and eCom.
This includes:
- A new foundation for marketing automation and loyalty, designed for scale and flexibility
- Personalised offers (including coupons) and loyalty mechanics, with the data and science behind them
- Strong governance around consent, privacy and trust
- A platform that product teams (app, web, eCom) and specialist teams (retail media, content and adtech) can consume
This is not about dashboards or isolated experiments. It is about building capabilities and a platform that help teams make better decisions in the moment and deliver relevant experiences for millions of people, every single week.

TECH STACK
At Coop, we work with a diverse technology stack. We do not expect you to know everything from day one; relevant experience combined with a willingness to learn will take you far.
Backend services: Golang services using gRPC with Protocol Buffers for service contracts, deployed on Kubernetes with infrastructure as code.
Data platform: BigQuery as our analytical warehouse, orchestrated with Dagster and modelled with dbt (running on GCP).
Experimentation: We use Firebase and Kameleoon for A/B testing.
Decisioning and ML: Vertex AI is part of our stack, and we are building patterns and standards for decisioning and ML as we scale the platform, so you can help shape how this is done.
Business tooling (first-class integrations): Hightouch, Braze and Talon.one, integrated as part of the overall platform so teams can activate audiences, journeys and offers reliably.
Architecture: Composable, API-first and built for reuse across app, web and eCom teams.
HOW WE WORK
Technology, data and business, working as one. You build it, you run it. You will work at the intersection of building reusable services and activation, creating capabilities consumed by app, web and eCom product teams, as well as specialist teams in retail media, content and adtech. Our cloud platform team provides the underlying developer experience, allowing you to focus on building services and products on top of that foundation.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
People who want to build, not just operate.
We are hiring across multiple disciplines. Whether your strengths are software engineering, data, analytics or marketing/loyalty tooling, we are looking for people who want to help build new capabilities from the ground up. We already have a dedicated cloud platform team enabling a strong developer experience. In this initiative, you will build reusable services and products on top of that foundation.
We are hiring for roles across:
- Software engineering: APIs and backend services, real-time systems, integrations, reliability/performance and secure runtime operations in a high-traffic environment.
- Data engineering: data ingestion, modelling, data quality, pipelines (batch/streaming) and publishing reliable data products.
- Data science & ML: model development and evaluation, feature engineering, MLOps, monitoring and retraining, applied to experimentation, decisioning and recommendations.
- Data analytics / analytics engineering: KPI frameworks, effect measurement (uplift), experiment analysis, and turning insights into actions together with product teams and the business.
- Marketing automation & loyalty tooling experts: hands-on implementation and integration of Braze, Hightouch and Talon.one.
We are looking for people who:

You might have domain knowledge from:
- Recommendation engines, data, analytics or product-oriented roles
