For å få epler til å vare så lenge som mulig, bør du oppbevare dem i kjøleskapet. Epler holder seg best ved en temperatur på rundt 2-4 grader.
Legg eplene i en plastpose eller en lukket beholder for å forhindre at de tørker ut og for å redusere etylengassen som de produserer, noe som kan fremskynde modningen av andre frukter og grønnsaker.
